A building firm run like it should be
Plenty of contractors can lay bricks. Fewer can run a programme, keep a site tidy and put every promise in writing. That second list is what BLC was built for.
Where we started
BLC Construction was started by tradespeople who kept watching good jobs go wrong for bad reasons: vague quotes, absent managers, and clients finding out about problems from the skip outside. The fix was not complicated. Put a proper manager on every site, price the whole scope before starting, and write everything down.
Today we run residential and commercial projects across London and the Home Counties, from side return extensions to complete new homes. The head office is small on purpose. The money goes into the people on site, because that is where your project is actually won.
Most new work arrives by recommendation, and we intend to keep it that way. A builder who depends on referrals has the strongest possible reason to leave every client glad they chose them.
Four rules on every site
Say it in writing
Quotes, variations, programmes and promises all go on paper. If it is worth saying, it is worth being held to.
Price it honestly
We would rather lose a tender than win it with a number we know will grow. The cheapest quote on the table is usually the most expensive build.
Respect the house
Floors protected, dust contained, original fabric kept wherever it can be. We are guests in your home, even when it is a building site.
Finish the last one percent
The difference between good and bad builders is rarely the brickwork. It is whether anyone comes back for the sticking door.
Who runs your job
A small office team and a bench of trades we have worked with for years. Photos and names will appear here; the structure is already how we work.
Managing Director
Leads pricing and client relationships from first visit to final account.
Contracts Manager
Owns programmes across all live sites and keeps them honest.
Site Managers
One per project. Your daily contact, on site, every day.
Quantity Surveyor
Prices scopes and variations so the paperwork always matches the work.
The boring paperwork, done well
Building work is regulated for good reason, and the paperwork is part of the job. Every project runs under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, with risk assessments and method statements for each trade, building control involved from design stage, and certification handed over in a single pack at completion.
Insurance documents, accreditations and references are available to any client who asks, and we would encourage you to ask every builder who quotes for your project. The good ones will not mind.
Meet us on your site
The quickest way to judge a builder is to talk to one. Book a visit, ask hard questions, and see whether the answers arrive in writing.
